Long videos...
3 Things I have learned about Peyton these past couple of weeks:
1. He has a crazy spurt of energy right before he crashes for the night (we're talking flailing arms, kicking legs and thrashing body).
2. He likes to hit his mommy in the face while he's nursing. It is especially fun when his nails are super long
3. He is all boy. He loves when you make fart sounds and enjoys the word "poop".

The first 6 weeks....
So Peyton has stopped crying and is now asleep on the boppy with his dad...so I have time to sneak in a quick blog. Posting pictures is easier for me, because I don't feel I have much to say...
I can't believe that Peyton is 6 weeks old now - I wish I could slow time down. These first 6 weeks have been amazing (albeit tiring). It is really great watching him grow and discover new things (such as his hands - he loves those things. He often falls asleep while making out with them). We love seeing him smile and look forward to his first laugh. There are so many things about him that are just so cute! I love the way he grins when he knows he's about to eat (his favorite parts of the day!); I love the face he makes when he stretches (I'm still trying to catch this on camera); I love the fact that he cries and whimpers when he's waking up from a nap (it's endearing - trust me); I love that he's starting to sleep 4 or 5 hours at a time at night.....there's too many things to list!
Even though Casey and I are exhausted beyond belief, we wouldn't trade this for anything!!!

6 weeks!
Peyton is 6 weeks old today! He is continuing to smile a lot more and is also cooing a lot more. It's fun to hear him try to communicate with us in a way other than crying....
Also, if you click on the pictures, they'll come up a lot bigger and a lot better quality (for some reason when blogspot shrinks them to fit in those little boxes, the quality goes down).

Two things...
I'll try to get some pictures up today but first I thought I would mention a couple of milestones! On Monday, Peyton smiled for the first time in response to our smiles! He always smiles when he's falling asleep (see previous picture) but this was the first time that he smiled on purpose! It has really been fun watching the little guy become more alert and more purposeful with his actions (although on Monday he also poked himself in the eye while waving his arms around - he screamed!!!!)
Second milestone (which you won't find in the baby books) is that he managed to pee into his own eyeballs and mouth. Gross, right? I had his legs pulled up to put a new diaper under his bum when he decided that it would be the perfect time to start peeing. Needless to say, he was not pleased with the end result.
Anyhow, we drove to King of Prussia (a large mall outside of Philly) to do some birthday shopping and Peyton was great the whole time. He didn't cry the whole day and we didn't have any poo-splosion mishaps (although he did spit-up all over me in the Gap - thankfully I was still in my own clothes. Can you imagine me handing clothes back to the sales associate that had been spit-up on? "Yeah...I don't think I'm going to get these....they don't fit right.") The only issue we had the whole day was when we got home - seems we had screwed up his sleep schedule because he had slept the day away in the car and his stroller.

First Bath!
Peyton had his first bath in his baby bathtub on Sunday (pictures to come later) and he did really well (a lot better than I did!). He cried a little when I first put him in the water, so I wimped out and pulled him out of the water. I then proceeded to make Casey put him in the water so that he would be the one causing him distress instead of me (clever, right?). He surprised me though and ended up really enjoying his bath.
Yesterday, we gave him another bath before his Uncle Carson got here. He seemed to enjoy the bath a lot....he was very relaxed, perhaps a bit too relaxed. We lowered him onto the little "hammock" in the bathtub and started to get him all washed up when he started peeing into the water. Nice. Pee is sterile though, so we continued to wash him. We got to the end of the bath without any mishaps when he decided to let out a little fart (or what I thought was a fart). I looked over on the hammock and what did I see - a nice pile of floating poo. Dangit.
