Happy Halloween! (Subtitle: Welcome to Peyton's Humiliation)

I'll recant the story of the costume tomorrow when my head doesn't hurt so much!

I'm running out of titles for posts...

Today, we went on a "hike" up Mt. Nittany with Casey, Pete and the dogs. We put Peyton in the backpack carrier and trudged up the gentle slope that they call a "mountain" here. It was a little more difficult for me b/c I was hauling Peyton and my mammoth camera, so I'm sure I slowed us down quite a bit. Peyton did really well and we had a great time and got some cool pictures of the changing leaves.

Peyton is really taking to eating! So far, he's had applesauce, sweet potatoes, pears, bananas and carrots (all Gerber 1st foods). He's loved all of them with the exception of bananas. It was quite the chore trying to get him to eat those dang bananas. He would try to covertly spit them out as soon as you shoved them in his mouth.

He's still rolling all over the place but seems to favor rolling from back to tummy rather than the other way (which is funny b/c he HATES being on his tummy!) Casey predicts that the little bugger will be crawling by the time Thanksgiving rolls around!

I'm going to be posting pictures in this larger format from now on (unless you don't want me to!)

Pictures from the past week...

He can stand while holding on to things now! He's still a little wobbly so we have to be ready to catch him.
"Blerg."

He does this when we try to change his diaper - he clenches his knees together so you can't get the diaper between his legs.

He matches his play blankie!

Here is a whole bunch of pictures from the past week! It took me a little while to get them up b/c Peyton had a little bit of a bad week last week. He had a mild reaction to the immunizations which basically made him a complete crank-o-potamus for about 5 days. Woo hoo! Anyhow, he's back to normal but has a slight cough and hoarse voice. He doesn't have any other symptoms though so the nurse said not to worry - it might just be the cold air or a scratchy throat.

Rolling with his homies...

A few new things in the Peyton universe. Peyton figured out how to roll from his tummy to his back AND his back to his tummy today! It was a full day for him! He has the cutest little smile on his face whenever he rolls over (he looks so proud of himself!). He's also starting to develop a funny little friendship with the dogs. He loves to laugh at them when they chase each other or burp; he sometimes laughs when they just walk in the room. He's really loving being around them....

I was able to capture his back to tummy roll the second time around.

Anywho, I was able to capture him rolling from tummy to back when he did it for the first time!

If this post is nonsensical it's because I am very tired.....

Exercising!

This is why we had to start Peyton on food early....

Foooooood!

Peyton had his 4 month doctor's appointment on Friday. He got a clean bill of health but the Dr. did tell us to start feeding him rice cereal because he's a little underweight. She determined that he isn't putting on enough weight because he's so dang active!! He's 26 inches and 14 lbs, 2 ounces now. He's still the same percentile height but he dropped from 60th percentile in weight to the 38th percentile. This puts him in the 1% for height vs. weight (he's only heavier than 1% of other babies for his height!) Don't worry though (I'm looking at you, Grandma Higgs and Grandma Harris) - she said he's perfectly fine.

We started him on solid food on Friday and he picked up on it really quickly! It's done quite the number on his digestive system but I'm sure it will work itself out. I've included a video of his first time eating (you'll have to excuse all of the camera flashes - I was taking pictures while the video was going). I'll post another video of him eating today in a little bit (no camera flashes in that one).
