Who has time to blog?

As usual, my poor little blog gets neglected!  I feel like I barely have time to put my thoughts down in blog form, so I'll try to spill some of them out here!

Summer has gone by incredibly fast and I can hardly believe that my little baby will be 3 months old next week!  Parenting is such a bittersweet job.  I love watching Finley grow but it hurts to know that he won't be a baby for much longer.  I can hardly believe that Peyton is 3......

Peyton continues to crack us up (constantly), but he also hit a pretty difficult phase!  He is constantly trying to challenge us to see what he can get away with.  His whining has hit an all time high (or low, rather) and he seems to shed tears very easily!  He is definitely a sensitive little boy!!

The other day, Peyton told us not to put the pacifier in Finley's mouth because "he likes to watch Finley cry."  Uh oh!!!  Here are some other goofy things he has said/done lately: (copied from my Facebook page!)

• While shopping in TJ Maxx, Peyton asked me if he could ask a lady if she wanted to see his penis. 
• Just gave Peyton a scoop of Nutella (his first!) and he licked his lips and said "Mmmmmm....jealous."
• Yesterday, Peyton took the dollar bills I had pulled out for the toll booth and stuffed them in his pants. I guess he has chosen his future career path ;)

I'm sure there are many other things I can't think of!

We've been treated to a steady stream of guests this summer - it will be strange in the Fall when we no longer have people drifting in and out!!

My ill-fated photoshoot...

This past week I attempted some 3 year portraits for Peyton. I bought an outfit, collected some props, and recruited a friend to help (thanks Kayla!). Peyton did alright (although he kept messing with the little battery packs on the firefly jars) but I definitely think I'll be trying these again.

Peyton is still doing well with the "pee" part of potty training but he's been regressing with the pooping part. I had to take his bus away and tell him that he won't get it back until he poops in the potty. He's been intentionally lying about when he needs to go. Sigh....

Peyton & his prize...

This is the "prize" we bought for Peyton for pooping on the potty!  Woo hoo!  We bought it before he ever overcame his "poop-stacle" and put it on a shelf so he could see it (to try to motivate him to stop having accidents).  Anywho, you can see that he clearly loves his bus!

Photo Bomb!!


We have had a great time visiting with all of the family trickling in and out of our home the past couple of months (I'll try to compile some pictures of family visiting). The heat here has been pretty unbearable (it has been mid 90's and higher for about a month now). The past week or so has seen temperatures of over 100 almost every day! It is hard trying to wrangle two kids in this heat! Peyton wants to play outside all of the time but it is too hot for Finley to be out there for very long.

Peyton has been doing really well with potty training!  We don't really have pee accidents anymore and he has pooped in the potty 3 times now!  Woo hoo!  I feel like we are really making progress!

Finley has been sleeping better at night - 5 and 6 hour stretches pretty routinely, but he still won't sleep in his crib.  He is pretty close to being too big to fit in his swing (his preferred place to sleep).  I'm trying to stick him in his crib for at least a little bit every day.  He gets himself so worked up that he starts choking and then he throws up all over me when I pick him up.  Sigh.  Someday he will actually sleep in that nursery!
