I've been trying to savor this morning routine for the past few days b/c I know everything is soon about to change. It is bittersweet. There really is now way around it. I love Peyton SOOOOOOOOO much and it is hard for me to think that I'm going to soon love another little being just as much. There's a little bit of guilt floating around in my heart....it's hard to describe. I almost feel like I'm letting Peyton down a little bit by adding another member to our family. I have treasured the alone time I've had with Peyton and it is hard to to think that it is soon going to change. I honestly don't understand how my heart is going to expand enough to love another little baby.......

Morning Routine
Peyton and I have a pretty solid morning routine. A routine that will certainly be disrupted by the arrival of a certain new family member. Peyton wakes up between 7:45 and 8:15 and I go get him out of bed. He eats his breakfast on the couch (usually oatmeal) while watching his cartoons. I sit with him and eat my breakfast while checking emails/surfing the web on my iPad. We then both get dressed and head outside to play for the morning (usually meeting up with some of the other neighborhood kiddos).

Playing catch-up (again)
Well, I continue to neglect this blog. Whoops. I'm about a month away from my due date/C-section and I just feel like I can't keep up with everything! The nursery is all finished, we have an application into a "mother's day out program" for Peyton (we won't hear back until mid-May!), and we are soaking up this warm weather. Peyton continues to ride his bike everyday (he is awesome at it!) and has started asking for a bike with "two pedals". He told us he would give his orange bike to Finley when he gets his new bike. Sweet boy.
He peed on the potty for the first time last Thursday (March 29th) but we haven't made any progress on the potty training front since then. He continues to only have a mild interest in the whole potty training gig and typically only uses it as a stalling tactic before naptime or bedtime.
We have two Easter egg hunts to attend this weekend, so I'll be sure to take pictures at both! Our neighbor, Gina, bought some baby chicks on Monday and we've been playing with them almost every day. They are super cute but are getting faster and faster every day! Peyton named his baby chick "Angry Bird". We asked him today who he wanted to invite to his birthday party and he said "Maddox, Bentley, Kayla, Gina, Daddy, the baby chicks and my water". So, if you don't get an invite, you've been bumped so that we have enough space for some baby chicks and his sippy cup full of water.
I think Peyton is starting to understand this whole Finley thing more (although, he still refers to Finley as a "her" or "she"). He loves singing to my belly (and loves when it makes Finley move) and has also taken to licking my belly.....odd.

....blog neglect.
Oh boy, it has been over a month since I've updated this blog. Whoops! I'm sure the grandparents are positively DYING! Pregnancy continues to kick my butt, so we'll blame my lack of updates on that. I am almost to the finish line (about 7 weeks left) and I am so ready for it to be over with!!!!
Peyton is having a BLAST enjoying the sunshine and playing with his neighborhood buddies. It has been such a treat to watch Peyton form "friendships" and interact with other kids. He is still obsessed with his bike and I'm pretty sure he will be riding a regular bike with pedals in no time! He has been sitting on the potty every so often but still hasn't actually "used" it. Baby steps, people, baby steps.
He is becoming a little more interested in his brother as time goes on and even likes to put his hand on my belly to feel Finley move. He went to my last Doctor's appt. with me and asked the Dr. if she was going to take his brother out right then so he could see him. She politely declined.

We have horses & a mule living right near us!!!

Tasting his salty tears.

Finley's Nursery
Finley's nursery is pretty much set up (except for dang curtain panels and some custom bedding we are waiting on). I thought y'all might like to see it!

Dresser and changing table topper (Peyton's table topper - Casey sanded it and painted it!)

Crib and mobile (hand-made by moi)

Peyton's old rocking chair

.....and a little Star Wars, so Casey didn't feel left out of the design.
